Explorers is the scouting section for 14-18 year olds. It is different from Beavers, Cubs and Scouts as it is instead run at a District level.

Explorers can take part in more adventurous activities than they would in the Scouts, and can get more involved in the running of the unit, such as running of district camps, coordinating bases for the scouts, cubs and beavers and allowing them to gain experience of responsibility and planning. They can also develop skills such as leadership, teamwork, time management, initiative, planning, communication, self –motivation, cultural awareness and commitment.

Not only that but they maintain a strong community spirit through fundraising events, such as the annual Bonfire, this not only helps the explorers but allows them to show what they do for the local community.

We also get the Explorers more involved in the running of district camps, running bases for the scouts, cubs and beavers, allowing them to gain experience of responsibility and planning.

During Lockdown

Throughout national lockdowns and local restrictions we have been meeting consistently online on zoom, we have been running several different activities that can be done from home some examples of this include; a camp from home, a ready steady cook night, baking and several games and quiz nights. These meetings are fun and get everyone involved despite not being able to do what we do best; being outdoors. You can see more of what we get up to in lockdown on our facebook page and our blog.
